Cosmetic Dentist

What is a cosmetic dentist? There is no such thing as a specialty in dentistry that is devoted to being a Florida cosmetic dentist. Unlike an orthodontist, endodontist (root canal specialists), periodontist, oral surgeon, and pedodontist there is no university dental school certified program in cosmetic dentistry. The long and the short of it is that anyone can call himself a cosmetic dentist. The patient/public is at the mercy of the marketplace. Just because someone calls himself a cosmetic dentist doesn't mean he can produce the goods.

If I was looking for a cosmetic dentist, I'd be looking for someone with years of experience who can show me a portfolio of successfully completed cases with extensive photographic documentation. I'd want to see a lot of before and after photos that the dentist has personally done and not taken from dental journals. I'd like to be able to talk to happy clients about their experience or at least read about them. Preferably I'd like a referral from one of these clients. Word of mouth is the strongest endorsement and pretty much the only way that we find our clients. It may seem like a cumbersome unpredictable way to build a practice but we find it's the only way to go. If you look at any local, upscale magazine or publication you will always find several Florida dentists advertising their cosmetic dentist. That doesn't mean they are incompetent, quite the contrary some are very good, but how do you know?
